“So whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”-1 Corinthians 10:31

Let’s be smart about our health.  No more looking at the number on the scale, but let’s focus on ‘overall health.’  It’s important to be knowledgeable about the foods we eat and put into our bodies.  One of the books I am currently reading and highly recommend to any and everyone who is not only looking for physical health, but spiritual, mental, emotional, you name it –is The Daniel Plan.

The Daniel Plan book focuses on many areas of your life including Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends. I absolutely love the author, Rick Warren, and could go on and on about how great the book is, but one of the takeaways I want to share with you from the book thus far is…

“Don’t focus on weight, but on health.”

I think that is something most of us, if not all can agree that we do not do most of the time.  We find ourselves focused on the number that we want to reach and do any and everything to get there—good and bad.  And if we ever get to that number, it’s only a matter of time before we relapse and end up right where we started in the first place.  Am I right or AM I RIGHT? : )

So what do we do now?  Learn about what health truly means…  Start by looking at your current plate decisions and begin to research about the foods you are eating, their health benefits and healing powers.  Read the labels of the foods as you are picking up in the grocery store and make sure you are eating WHOLE FOODS. Become knowledgeable about healthy decisions so that when faced with uncertainty you know how to make the best decision for you and don’t hesitate!

No more starting a new diet every Monday. No more excuses. It’s okay to slip up once in a while (we are ALL human), but let’s make sure we don’t stay down, but instead get back up and keep going forward with our health goals.  If you are anything like me, you want people to see you and say “wow, she really looks good, healthy and happy.” I will be posting some of my new favorite healthy foods and drinks soon that just may convince you to join me in this quest to be at my optimum health and remain there.  Stay tuned!
