Slow Down

I absolutely love when a blog post idea just kind of hits me in the face and I need to drop everything and just write. Here goes nothing…

I was talking to my best friend today and he said something to me that I just had to stop and let it sink in.  It was so simple, yet so profound and meaningful.  I was telling him about a decision I was trying to make in life and how I felt like I was putting a lot of myself into the situation, but it wasn’t exactly giving me what I wanted back in return.

So you ready for what he said?

“Just take it slow.  Don’t put so much energy into it.”

And that was all it took.

Okay, so hear me out for a second. I think that if someone recognizes something that they want in life that it is SO WORTH IT to give it your all and work hard towards achieving whatever that is…BUT in reality, if it’s not going your way or isn’t exactly what you thought it would be, it’s okay to recognize that!

It’s okay to kind of “fall back,” reevaluate, and reconsider if it is something that you really want or more importantly, if it’s something that God has for you.

Another way to look at it is as planting a seed.  God tells us that we will reap what we sew, so we ought to plant good seeds.  And in life, we can hope for things to happen, but overall, it shows God that you are serious about your faith when you take action and plant some good seeds in the direction you are trying to go.  I planted a seed and it’s now my time to nurture it and with patience let it grow.  This will not happen overnight!  Ultimately if I water it too much, then it will die. Sometimes you just need to plant a seed, do what you can to help it grow in a healthy way, pray and have faith that if it is meant to grow, then it will do that very thing—grow.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say again a million times, we live in a world of “gimme gimme” and “right now.”  I am not sure many know how to slow down and to reevaluate where they are placing their time and energy.  This is something we all need to do once in a while.

So my challenge to you today is to slow down—plant your seed and let it grow just as it should. 🙂
